| ... a cohesive whole and consequently, the final painting.’Brisbane artist Michelle Caitens is a teacher, married with three children. She is also a newcomer to the fine arts arena. She exhibited her first painting in August 2006 and won a second prize in the Brisbane RNA Art Competition. In the past year, Michelle has received numerous other awards including two People’s Choice Awards; selection as a finalist in the Lexus Mortimore Art Prize in Dubbo; Bronze Award in a wildlife art exhibition in Canberra; and (most recently) first prize in the Pastels section of the Cooloola Gold Rush Art Prize at Gympie. This lady has been involved in creative pursuits - in one capacity or another - all her life. She has illustrated music books and conducted school illustration workshops; and has worked as a dance teacher and calligrapher. Michelle has painted numerous murals in private homes and has also been involved in two school mural projects - one as Artist-in-Residence. As a member of the Qld Wildlife Artists and the Australian Society of Authors, Michelle’s passions in art lie in children’s literature, illustration and wildlife painting.
